Our local museum of natural history has a centenarian tortoise bought in Florida in 1942. He is a beloved local character, and staff take him out for walks on the lawn. There is a conspiracy theory that the original tortoise died and was replaced several years ago.

There had been several news stories about seniors who could no longer afford to live in homes that had been in their families for decades, as I recall, and it was becoming a political issue. A minister had said they should be happy their properties were now worth more, which came off as insensitive.
