IIIRC he was playing in the fourth quarter of games so I had the same thought too.
It's always a risk (coughAnthonyRichardson) but it really comes down to how much they need to learn IMO. And the coaches have the best pulse of that

Completely disagree that DE is not complicated. Knowing exactly where you are suppoed to line up with the formation of that defensive call. Making your push in coordination with the other DTs, positioning on runs, whether you're contain or rush, it's all an orchestra with the other players

To be fair they need reps in game action to get familiar with how the defense runs. I have no problems with it.

To be fair, McKee played well when he came in last year during the regular season. He did prove that the Eagles can have confidence in their back up quarterback.
All they were looking for was that his play against the Giants wasn't a fluke. It wasn't, and that's a reason to be happy
