What about that case where she copied 2 paragraphs of data interpretation literally without mentioning the paper it came from at all? That seemed like the worst one to me.

To not "fall for it" they would have had to ignore facts (about her plagiarism) and their own policies. Yes it was motivated, but they didn't lie. The solution is to apply the standard equally, not throw it out.

She's a plagiarist. Instead of defending that behavior, we should apply this standard to academic leaders across the board - I bet many rightwingers are also plagiarists!

Yeah it bothers me a little that cookbook authors and such always dismiss table salt b/c of iodine, when my family *always* got the non-iodized table salt growing up
