My heart is full of gratitude for everyone who joined the Mayor’s Masked Ball tonight. Together, we raised scholarship funds for underrepresented students attending HBCUs, supported the mission of UNCF, and celebrated the excellence of EWU. Knowledge is power.

I was thrilled to receive a call from Secretary Pete Buttigieg congratulating us on receiving this game changing grant over many competitive applications from across the U.S. This is a bold step towards being a greener, healthier city that leads on the technologies that drive our future.
We're excited to receive a $2.8 million grant from the US Dept. of Transportation to install 100 publicly accessible electric vehicle chargers across public spaces and educational campuses in Jax. Thanks to @newsfromjea.bsky.social & FSCJ for partnering with us.

Mayor Deegan’s first veto is a victory for taxpayers and fiscally responsible government. Jaxsons deserve nothing less!
The decision to veto Ordinance #2024-800 is holding true to my commitment to seek the greatest ROI for our citizens. The trash hauler increase passed by the City Council is fiscally irresponsible and comes at the expense of priorities like affordable housing and homelessness.

Godspeed to former President Jimmy Carter, a man who defined what it means to be a servant leader. His was a life well lived. I will never forget Sunday School with him at Marantha Baptist Church in 2019. His lessons of pursuing peace and committing acts of kindness ring just as true today.

It’s not a surprise to see that Jacksonville is attracting such a large pool of college graduates. The word is out across the country that we are a fantastic place to live, work and play.
The City of Jacksonville was recently ranked fifth among all U.S. cities with the most “brain gain” by @usatoday.com. Cities with brain gain are those that are successfully attracting and retaining college-educated individuals.
