Arts Council England, South West. In Bristol, probably reading a book. Views all mine!
Saw Porij in a pub yesterday afternoon, plucked up the courage to say hi 👋 and they gave us guest list tickets for their gig. Total babes. 🥹

Kneecap at Prospect last night is a late but very strong contender for best gig of 2025.

Fun fact I learnt last night: Jean Rhys loved to shop in Miss Selfridge. 💅

Nine years ago I programmed a conversation between Sarah Howe, Melanie Ho, Helen Oyeyemi and Hanya Yanagihara and that event is still a career highlight. Such brilliant women.

My brilliant friend @drjamesbailey.bsky.social has written a book about Muriel Spark. It’s sharp, warm and funny. A joy to read (and ready for pre-order).

Just watched Lake Mungo in a cave because why not put myself through something utterly terrifying on a Saturday afternoon. It was part of Bristol Film Festival’s Halloween programme and was v creepy and v cool. 👻

This is a clever, heavy book! Kind of frazzled my brain. In a good way. I think.

I’m very (very) behind but this is so breathtakingly good.

Spent this morning with lots of great people who are doing lots of great cultural things in Gloucester. Really energising to see the impact ACE funding can have.

“Material Worlds: Contemporary Artists and Textiles” from the Hayward Gallery has arrived at The Wilson in Cheltenham and it’s a wonderful exploration of textiles in contemporary art. Really want (need) the wallpaper by Marc Camille Chaimowicz.

Completed festival season on a total high at @endoftheroadfestival.com. Four days of joy. Father John Misty was the best way to close a music filled summer. 💛

The kids offer is SO good. Kiddo enjoyed loads of stuff alongside the music (although he is still slightly undecided on the ferris wheel). @greenmanfest.bsky.social

Really enjoyed hearing Kelly Lee Owens in conversation with @huwstephensdj.bsky.social - included an excellent discussion about the value of music venues and record shops.

That was WONDERFUL! Underworld, Beth Gibbons, CMAT, TV On The Radio, Jacob Alon, Jasmine.4.T…so much good stuff.
Also, I didn’t know Perfume Genius had covered Mazzy Star’s Fade Into You and hearing that live was a total highlight. Thank you @greenmanfest.bsky.social. See you next year. 💚
