I like dogs, westerns, and film noir. Autistic. Chronic pain has ruined my life but gives me more time to watch movies, so shrug. Autistic daughter and incredibly proud of her.
Carina didn't last long in the snow today. Had to be bundled up immediately.

Indicator has so much cool shit we can't get over here. This year, I decided to try this one:

NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER - Damn, you guys weren't kidding, this is a real gem. One of the New Yorkiest movies ever made. Entertaining as hell, great action, amazing characters. You can see it on the Kanopy library service, or on Kino 4K.

Continued. I stand behind all these titles.

Hell yeah

Looking at my Letterboxd most watched stats, and it's interesting. It's only in the last few years when I started logging everything, but gives a snapshot into my recent interests. But I disown Wakanda Forever, didn't even like it. Not sure why I kept trying, maybe because I believed in Ryan Coogler

Krypto in Chicago! That dog sure gets around fast.

Wow, we still had phones with cords when my kid was 2. Time just shooting by.

My kid drew a pop group of 5 versions of Lula (from #Farmageddon) singing "Betcha by Golly Wow" by #Prince. #Aardman

HOUSE OF WAX (2005) - An imaginative remake, but also stuck within the constraints of early 2000 style (bad music, the most repulsive characters possible, Paris Hilton trying to be sexy).

Still, it's a production designer's dream. The actual House of Wax is breathtaking and full of texture.

Allow me to return the favor.

The idea that some autistic people obsess over one specific thing is no joke. My daughter has been into Lula (from the Shaun the Sheep FARMAGEDDON) movie for many years now, and there's no end in sight.

It's an everyday part of conversation, and I don't even mind. It's like an extra family member.

HOUSE OF WAX (1953) - A fairly entertaining romp, full of good observations about art. From a horror standpoint, I like the remake ever so slightly better, but they're really so different fundamentally that it's difficult to compare. At least you get to see young Vincent Price being amazing.

Time for another round of trying to motivate my doctor's lazy staff to do things that they've clearly realized they can ignore without repercussions.

Nothing stressful about running out of medication, nope, I'm fine.

THE LONG WAIT - Anthony Quinn is a babe magnet / possible murderer with amnesia in this Mickey Spillane joint. It's a good time. Want to see every woman throw herself at him for the entire run time? Why not, he's pretty cool. And an angry badass.

You can't stream it, but ClassicFlix has a nice 4K.

I love when J&B shows up in Hollywood films. Goodfellas and Back to the Future II, for instance.

Lookin' comfy today.

BRING HER BACK - Philippou and Philippou have leveled up after TALK TO ME. This new film had me riveted and finding incredible depths of hatred for the villain. Gnarly make-up and brilliant child performances.
October 5, 2025 at 8:50 PM
MYSTERY STREET (1950) - John Sturges film with Ricardo Montalban in the starring role. A police detective procedural with fascinating forensic details. Would have been a lot less interesting with a generic '50s guy in the lead, but Montalban brings it. On HBO.

DUCK SOUP - Better late than never, I've finally filled this gap in my cinema history, and god damn, that's some funny shit. I'm hooked. Send me down the Marx Brothers rabbit hole!

There's still so much I haven't seen.

UNITED 93 - This film still hits hard, even though the idea of being attacked by religious conservatives from OUTSIDE the US feels positively quaint at this point. Incredible filmmaking that puts you right in the middle of a heart-stopping situation.

Carina being extra adorable today.

WARFARE - Military procedural, hyper-detailed. Day-in-the-life until something goes wrong, then it almost becomes a horror film. More of an experience than a traditional narrative. Great sound design.
