The intersection of art and music has always fascinated me. That’s why I was immediately enthusiastic when steel sculptor Georg-Friedrich Wolf asked me to open an exhibition of his with a drum solo in his large-scale studio. It was inspiring to play with the echos and reverberations of the space.

The Contis lighthouse, built in 1862, is remarkable for its very stylish two black stripes that spiral down its facade. This chic “barber’s pole” design was added by local artist Louis Lucien Bellocq, aka Menoune, in 1937 to improve the tower’s visibility.

Yesterday, the Darmstadt „Ferienkurse“, a contemporary music festival and international summer academy, opened with a multifaceted concert, featuring compositions by Peter Ablinger, @inticomposes.bsky.social, John Cage, Alexandre Babel, and Cathy Van Eck.
