Totally agree, I often first borrow out the library and wait to own paperback. Daughter got around this recently by happening to be in an airport, when desired new book was just out in hardback and buying an airport paperback, which I had realised was a thing!

Seem to get a lot that are passing through, some stay, fieldfares too, but haven’t seen them yet. The blackbirds turning up have brown beaks , not yellow, which I believe means they’re Scandinavian
