Unsuccessful scientist. I like cycling, nature, walking around looking at things. Living in Surrey via London, Exeter, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Dundee.
This is quite the coincidence on my feed:

I love to see these sport themed meals. It is the figure skating Grand Prix de France in Angers this weekend , so we are having braised duck legs with puy lentils, and some Loire red wine.

Here it is. Not actually from Spain, I think it must be from his home city of Nîmes, which seems to host annual bullfighting events in the Roman amphitheatre.

I got this as a souvenir from Lübeck on my holiday this summer. It’s local celebrity Thomas Mann, with his Nobel Prize winning novel Buddenbrooks.

Such a great city. This was one of our souvenirs.

Are you going to Tallinn? If so, I strongly recommend the Maritime Museum out at Kalamaja by the harbour. It’s in an old seaplane hangar. You can go inside a submarine and an icebreaker.

I must be doing something right with who I follow on social media if I get a feed like this:

What’s a poster you had in your room, growing up?

Um, I was quite a swot at school. I think I had R.E.M. posters later, but I can’t remember what they were like.

Nice to see Cousin Itt enjoying the tennis at Eastbourne today.

Quote a record that you found in your parents’ collection when you were young.
My Dad used to sing 'Long Black Veil' to me when I was very young.

This brings back happy memories of a trip to Bilbao in 2002. We visited a gorgeous bar/restaurant on that Plaza called Victor Montes a couple of times.

Wow what a show. I’ve never seen Pulp live before (I’m 53), so glad we managed to get tickets. Jarvis Cocker has such stage presence and clearly loves to perform. I haven’t seen anything like it since Julian Cope at the Royal Festival Hall in 2004.

Even looser:
"Lived" Anywhere I have been with family or for work > 1 month.
May 30, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Applying looser definitions:
"Lived" > 1 year
"Stayed" Overnight or longer
"Visited" Daytrips
"Stopped" brief visits, mainly bike rides

I have some embarrassing gaps for my home country of Scotland. I am applying quite strict definitions here.
"Lived" >1 year
"Stayed" Living somewhere with family or for work > 1 month
"Visited" Overnight or longer
"Stopped" Day-trips

I noticed this on my way to work today. A surprising target demographic for horsey stuff in leafy south west Surrey.

I just bought some more art, these gorgeous embroidery pieces by Alyssa Robinson, on display at 78 Derngate, Northampton. The puffins (Arctic Circle) are very much my kind of thing, similar in feel to @rivers-disguise.bsky.social’s work.
