Some huge news on Temporary Protected Status today. Secretary Mayorkas has just extended four current TPS designations which were set to expire in the next few months:

- El Salvador
- Venezuela
- Ukraine
- Sudan

This will extend 18 additional months of protection for roughly 850,000 people.

This is important.

Usually TPS extensions are announced closer to the expiration date. But that would have fallen to Trump, who’s signaled he’s going to sunset all TPS.

This gives ~232,000 people until September 2026 for that to happen.
El Salvador Temporary Protected Status just extended for another 18 months

TPS designation was going to expire on March 10, 2025

Now ends on September 9, 2026
