my grandmother (father's mother) once melted my mom's pecan pie on the stovetop as an act of passive-aggression

well, everyone driving much larger vehicles IS a regulatory issue, but the indicators that something should be done have more to do with car accident deaths than (incredibly annoying) headlights
November 24, 2025 at 11:46 PM
well, that's one way to fix housing costs

if graham platner was in the jacobin club he'd have his head on a fucking pike and it'd be hard to argue against it
October 24, 2025 at 9:57 PM
like imagine if brissot's "we must fight and win a war against our monarchist enemies to quicken the french democratic spirit!" spiel was interrupted by someone revealing he had the coat of arms of the habsburgs tattooed on his chest
October 24, 2025 at 9:56 PM
always gets me when jacobin gets high and mighty about cancel culture when they're named after a group that spent a good chunk of its time in power guillotining each other for less egregious offenses than "claims to be a leftist; has a totenkopf tattoo"

fellas, is it gay to know what a salad fork looks like?

"should the nazis or soviets be held responsible for this massacre" well the soviets, obviously, but guess what! they were on the same goddamn side in the first place!
September 26, 2025 at 1:08 AM
like you can rearrange chairs on the deck of the titanic all you want on this one, either by honestly engaging with the facts or not, but defending the soviets on this one is a losing battle no matter what because the context is so obviously deplorable
September 26, 2025 at 1:00 AM
please remind the class of why, exactly, the soviets had taken tens of thousands of polish officers as prisoners of war in the first place, because EYE seem to recall that it was because they were collaborating with fascists in a revanchist attempt to reconquer poland

not drawing any other political or ideological parallels to be clear. but what is marat but a martyred Poster, really
September 11, 2025 at 10:15 PM
currently reading mantel's a place of greater safety and alternating between the news and the description of marat's state funeral has been a little trippy

like he mentions suburbanization of industry, but doesn't quite follow that to the natural conclusion that there isn't enough suburban public transit to make it practical for people to operate without a car, therefore people bought cars
June 26, 2025 at 6:14 PM
yeah i feel like it's pretty clear that tallinn's free fare wasn't primarily designed to reduce dependence on cars, there hasn't been adequate accompanying investment in other policies that would support that goal, and, combined with the increased income, this is kind of the natural consequence
June 26, 2025 at 6:12 PM
yeah, this is what i'm trying to get at. it demonstrates a failure to comprehend either the grinding realities of subsistence farming or a lack of perspective of how long ago the neolithic revolution was, which is what she's probably actually talking about. either way i'm blowing the whistle lol

my great-grandparents were factory workers and career military servicemembers. somehow i don't think moderating their exposure to chemicals was their #1 priority

April 30, 2025 at 6:57 PM
i think she has to be! but that looooong predates what most people are referring to as "commodification of land" in texts that.....use that term in its generally agreed-upon definition lmao. if we go with english enclosure practices as early commodification, you're still off by what? 14500+ years?
April 30, 2025 at 6:55 PM
on top of everything else that's wrong with this, "commodification of land" is a three-word combo that should immediately get you red-carded. instant "mary what are you taaaaalking about"
April 30, 2025 at 6:37 PM
i bought a bottle of sparkling wine on the way to work on 1/6 to celebrate winning the senate. i felt very weird about popping it when i got home after a day of watching the news on my work monitor lmao
