So I played Soul Calibur 4 instead. I wanted to write a fantasy novel, and after seeing Ashlotte and doing a study of the field of novels I thought, hello, no one's writing a Clockwork girl, nor has written a clockwork girl novel.

So I rough drafted some Victorianesque Equilibrium Clockwork Girl

I also scoped out Frogchildren Studio's Clockwork Girl. and at the time I started my novel it seemed to be just a vaporware movie... but it did eventually come out and I finally watched it. It's very very rough viewing, but there's some charm to it, I didn't feel like I'd wasted my time at least.

At one point one of my friends bought themselves a copy of Paolo Bacigalupi's 'Wind up Girl without asking and lent it to me.

And then another friend gifted me a copy of Wind Up Girl.

Wind up Girl is very well realized and the premise is awful. It was thoughtful and supportive, and I don't like it

There's no showings I can find in my area for Angel's Egg... but I am looking forward to adding it to my collection.

It's one of the few anime films for which I've made a Lego Moc.

Sasami San@Ganbaranai is probably the most overly animated anime that was ever animated, and it's not remotely a classic, but Oppaisode 1 wants to be soo awesome that you swear you'll never forget you saw 'transforming boob Surface to Air Missiles join the fight against chocolate candy coating.

reWatching Sasami San@Ganbarani right after Rewatching Welcome to the NHK is definitely the right move... from one Neet show to an extremely another is a peerless planning win. Last time I watched Sasami I watched one episode and put the show down for over a month.... seeing episode 1 again is like

I understood that reference!

While I'm namedropping Helldivers in my anime thread... every so often I bring up Bounty Dog, I've had A Helldivers/Bounty Dog idea on my mind for a while...

Welcome to the NHK 14
That ends the arc. Part of me is planning to continue, and the other part of me is like... what an excellent pause point. I got online to talk about it, but went and wrote those thoughts somewhere else and now I'm having trouble seeing to write because I made myself cry.

Tangent time: who wants to go to bed... who me? Know, I mean, NO... but soon.

In College I was very chaste with my anime choices like a good homeschool boy should be, I'd been watching Scrapped Princess (a very clean show) and one of my roommates went to get the RA and complain that it was lewd.

I'll keep this movie off my anime viewing thread

Boogiepop and others (2000)

I'll say this for it... it's kinda weird that I own this, and even more weird that I've watched it a 2nd time... Boogiepop has some kind of aura about it I guess. I figured, I've rewatched the anime today, might as well.

I think I've warmed up to Boogiepop Phantom a lot. 6-12 completed. I took practically no time at all to rewatch it.

It's hard for me to accurately say what's going on, but something about the stream of circling events is compelling, and though I never know what Boogiepop is, I've come to like it.

Runner up for the best one off Leiji Matsumoto anime is Endless Orbit SSX... which also suffered from an early stop to its broadcast, but which I also recall came in for a smooth landing. I've seen most of the Matsumoto output... I think Queen Millennia and SSX are the two most polished works.

Queen Millennia -31
There's so much going on in this show, now I know why the movie adaptation always seemed soo... 'meager' compared to Galaxy Express 999. The whole story was adapted down to less than a regular slice of pizza taken from a whole pie, not even enough for one round pepperoni.

I saw Lost Bus last night and while I don't think it's the best movie Matthew McConaughey has ever been in, I do think this is some of his best performance work... he slides into a role here that is nothing like his Hollywood persona and pulls off a 'disappearing' act without ever going offscreen.

'Anything White Superiority complex holders don't like is Communism'.

Just saw an anti-antifa shit with a hammer and sickle? that ain't Antifa, that's just 'anything whites don't like is Communism'

Tulips, windmills, wooden shoes and dykes is what Antifa looks like.

I grew up reading Journey through the Night by Anne Devries and The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.

My fondness for Galaxy Express 999 and Space Pirate Captain Harlock notwithstanding... I think Queen Millennia has aged far more gracefully for the streaming era of television... no more 1 episode adventures... You want a long epic space opera? This is one long epic space opera movie.

Queen Millennia -23

Every so often I catch myself and think... I'm still watching a Leiji Matsumoto anime aren't I?

It feels much more modern with its 1 arc 42 episode plot. the quirky Leiji-isms are all here... but... it keeps ramping up... this story has so much creative gas in the tank.

Proceeds to memorize the whole book of James in 1 week while sick with the flu. Gotta get the Lego Snowspeeder with my 20 dollars.
James, a Servant of God to the 12 tribes of Israel Scatter--Sunday School Teacher, "my my, I've never heard it recited so clean."

Mom... what? that's not Lego Arctic.

I started collecting Magic the Gathering Cards this weekend, and based on how many youtube videos I've watched and price checks I've done I'm realizing if I'm not careful this will quickly become expensive. Right now I'm just in the obsessive compulsive phase of taking a quick* look.

More images of the Queen Millennia Lego trike.
It was not built to take any heavy amount of play, and yet for all the fiddly bits it still looks like a robust kids toy.

And while I'm at it... I'll make Yayoi Yukino... and her base... and her CROWN, and her kitty, and the kid, and his telescope.
September 22, 2025 at 2:19 AM
Me watching Queen Millennia... ooh, cool car... I wanna make a Futuron version---wait...

I should make it just exactly the same so everyone who is currently watching Queen Millennia knows what it is.

Maybe I will make a Futuron version, or even a Blacktron version later.
September 22, 2025 at 2:19 AM
Look, I'd love to talk about how good Queen Millennia tv is with you all, but I'm not prepared to get into it when I'm only 16 episodes into this 42 episode long MOVIE wearing the guise of a tv show...

Queen Millennia doesn't have arcs, it is the ARC.
