We have been witnessing crazy shit, both in NZ and abroad. I've found myself so frustrated and the rich (relative to the average person) run down support for the poor because it's slowing down their wealth accumulation. And they use their wealth to influence media dialogue

I've been to the US twice & want to go back. Am weighing up various destinations for a trip later this year. But the US is off the table while Trump is president. Am hoping for midterms that lead to impeachment & conviction.... I cannot understand how the US electorate chose him over Kamala

What I don't get, is that I understood Russia was already sanctioned to oblivion.

This would never have happened had a bbq not been present. The NRA will take strong action to lobby government to regulate BBQs accordingly. As a community we can fight this scourge.

It seems to me that there's growing angst within the US. Citizens will need to fight off oligarchy in order for the world to get the old US back

Step 1, though, is for the universities to fight back. It appeared as if they were going to obey in advance before today. The US needs to fight this one out before international students will be free and safe in US universities. Democracy and academic independence need to win this

The rest of the world needs to do exactly the same as China.
The US will be forced to change course if they are the only country on the planet who tarrif everything coming in and out, while everyone else is pretty much free trading.
The US will effectively be excluded from the world economy

My hope is the rest of the world go a long way to substituting trade with each other that was formally with the US.
If something close to that takes place, it maximizes harm in the US while minimizing everywhere else.
