The main technical challenge is that the Maltese islands are too small and too densely populated to accommodate a solar farm of sufficient scale.

Detractors of hydrogen fuel should perhaps pay a little more attention to what is happening in the real world. We could have a hydrogen-fuelled regional airline next year. That's not pie in the sky - it's hydrogen passenger aircraft!
