Reading Emily Wilson’s magisterial translation of The Iliad. No shade to the good ol’ boys (Fagles, Fitzgerald, Lattimore, among others), but Wilson’s is the one that speaks to me most. Especially in our present moment.

Don’t get me wrong, her politics are abhorrent, but every time I rewatch President Bartlet dressing down Dr. Jenna Jacobs for calling herself “Dr.” on her radio show when she ONLY has a Ph.D in English, I suffer an existential crisis.
