Hold Them Accountable!

Thank you to @librarianjones.com for the courage and conviction to stand up to those who spread hateful lies about librarians and educators.

It was never about the money. It was always about the truth and integrity.

Thank you, Amanda Jones. Courage is indeed contagious.

Superintendent CJ Cammack, this is your response?

Cowardice revisionism.

How dare you fail to respect the humanity of @joannahowrites.bsky.social and @carolinekpritchard.bsky.social.

More importantly, how dare you fail to respect the humanity of all the students and families in your community.

The deafening silence and the blinding cowardice of the Second Amendment little bros.

Bruh.

Silence is complicity.
Erasure is the precursor to eliminationism.

Organize.
Not just on here.
In person.
Organize.

This hateful regime. Their hateful followers.

"We are devastated to learn that overnight the state painted over the Pulse Memorial crosswalk on Orange Avenue. But we know that while this crosswalk has been removed, Orlando's commitment to honoring the 49 can never be erased."

"Think of your energy as if it's expensive, as if it's a luxury item. Not everyone can afford it. Not everyone has invested in you, in order to be able to have the capital for you to care about this, because what you spend your energy on, that's the day."

I love upper middle grade novels that challenge young minds. I find my favorite books are often ones written for kids ages 11-14/grades 5-8.

This summer, I read 3 amazing ones:

BLOOD IN THE WATER by Tiffany D. Jackson
GRACIELA IN THE ABYSS by Meg Medina
THE TROUBLE WITH HEROES by @katemessner.com

This month marks the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

If you're looking for a way to introduce this defining moment to young readers, please consider sharing my picture book, MARVELOUS CORNELIUS, illus. by John Parra.

As Mr. Rogers taught us, in moments such as these, "look for the helpers."
