I suppose some folks might see this as being analogous to it learning some form of world model.

I agree with your point about people misinterpreting the nature of the problem.

But it’s interesting to consider whether the training algorithm allows, in theory, the model to learn enough of a token’s properties to answer any question about it /as if/ the model could read each character.

It’s feasible an LLM could learn how many of a specific character appears in a token.

When you ask “what is the capital of France” and ChatGPT says Paris [72872], it learned that. It didn’t look up the answer on a map.

So it could learn there are 2 b’s in blueberry. Even if it doesn’t count them.

I love the photos I get from my X100F but I just ended up wanting something I could put in a pocket. So I now carry round a Ricoh GRIII which is fab (but also annoyingly expensive and has a crap battery :/)

I’m target market for the X Half but even for me it’s a little… too quirky 🙃

I know that. You know that. Does the President know that?

I honestly believe it's simply that he thinks "tariffs" means "market access fee". i.e., he wants to charge countries for the right to sell goods to the US market. Lutnick even said Trump's "goal is to abolish the Internal Revenue Service and let all the outsiders pay".

The Halo Anniversary editions, a number of Final Fantasy titles, the Tomb Raider remasters, etc. all took this approach I believe.

So… unusual but not unprecedented.

This is one of the core goals of BlueSky’s AT Protocol: to provide verifiable user identities. So this individual could have a handle @name.capitol.tn.gov. And so long as you’re in control of that domain you don’t /need/ BlueSky to actively verify people’s identity.
