Google AI suggests the quote was by Dawn Airey in the FT in 2014, linking to the source… which is not the FT and doesn't even mention Dawn Airey.

Perhaps I’ve misunderstood but iOS 26 still has them? And it sounds like the new toggle in 26.1 is “added” rather than replacing these? (It’s still daft though, yes.)
