A fair compromise for me. Listen, negotiate and adapt is a sensible way to proceed

Agreed. Nothing wrong with critical analysis, as given by Ed Davey and even the Tory dinosaur, Edward Leigh, but Badenoch was an aggressive, rude bully without challenging the substance

Unfortunately, grass roots party members often elect losers - e.g. Corbyn and Truss, who mirror their views but are unelectable to most voters. Controversial I know but I would have the leader elected solely by the parliamentary party, but give local branches more say on candidate selection

Not everyone would be happy with it, but I was impressed that our Community Dermatologist used AI to write up my notes from a recording of our consultation, saving a significant amount of time. I did get a chance to review the notes at the next consultation and they were perfect

Not saying it’s true for people replying to this post with adverse GP experience, but locally here most of the negative comments on our GP practice come from people who haven’t used it in the last year or so. It was definitely struggling a couple of years ago but is now brilliant

Our GP practice is fabulous. Has improved dramatically in the last year and the online service is brilliant. They have problems recruiting and retaining full time GPs but service now far exceeds my reasonable expectations.

I think you’re right Sue. No government, whether Labour, Tory, Reform or Green, would currently win a second term unless they solve the irregular immigration issue. We know Tory & Reform’s policies are worse than Lab; the Greens just say ‘safe and legal routes’ which isn’t a thought-through policy

All good people (don’t necessarily agree with ranking) and many other more junior stars around. Hamish Falconer is one to watch for the future in my opinion.

I hate to say it, and it gives me no pleasure, but if the BBC go to court they will lose.

Exactly. So it’s people like me who pay tax but not NI who will (willingly) have a higher bill, not people who don’t pay tax as in the original post
November 7, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Surely you mean wealthier groups who don’t pay NI? As a moderately wealthy pensioner who doesn’t pay NI the plan would (willingly) increase the tax take from me

I agree. I’m a Lammy fan but he should have given an answer as you suggest first, and then mentioned the inquiry, need to learn lessons, Tory record etc

Do you think “No borders” will be in the Green manifesto? That would be quite hard to sell at the next general election

At the same time pointing out that Greens, Plaid, SNP, Your Party are all more or less in favour of unilateral nuclear disarmament, and the Greens and Your Party largely anti-NATO

Good to hear. Anecdotal, but my partner and I feel NHS is rapidly improving regarding our GP experience and long awaited hospital procedures. Look forward to some hard data to support this

I’m genuinely confused. Surely you would only pay nearly £100,000 if you downsizing TO a £1.5m house not from one. If you were downsizing from a £1.5m to a nice £500,000 house stamp duty would be £15,000?

Is she really scrapping it on second homes as well. That’ll be a handy £93,750 saving for any poor soul buying a £1 million second home in Cornwall
