#ISTS#43 is underway with a full day of regional meetings. I am proud to say the Africa Regional Meeting was the most attended one we have ever had. We heard project reports from over 30 speakers!!!

24,000 acres burned so far between Miami and the Florida Keys. Lots of road closures so it took me 5 hours last night to travel a distance that typically takes about 45 minutes.

All roads in and out of the FL Keys are closed right now. Internet is down and phone service is spotty (Verizon).

I love the contrast of golden soft corals in the blue ocean water. This coral is covered with hundreds of individual polyps that extend their small tentacles into the water column to grab food. It is often to their advantage is grow in areas with strong currents because that helps bring the food!!
