PHEW-CWA
@phew-cwa.bsky.social
We are over 140,000 Public, Healthcare, and Education workers from across the country. From 911 dispatchers to social workers, campus workers to nurses, administrative assistants to librarians, PHEW members are working to make our public services work!
The Trump administration just announced in court that they’ll be reversing their illegal revocation of thousands of student visas. This is a win in our fight against authoritarianism and for free speech, but it is not enough. Trump and ICE must free all detained students and political prisoners.

Last week we joined TSEU-CWA Local 6186 Members rallying to demand an across-the-board $10,000 pay increase for all workers, COLA, and other improvements to retiree pensions. We must reverse the trends of privatization, fully fund our state services and universities, and protect free speech.

TBT! For as long as we’ve been a union PHEW has proudly fought against the privatization of our civil services. Here’s a photo from a MASE picket in the early 90’s marching against the same forces we face today.

@harryszabo.bsky.social is right: The truth is the Trump administration is not conservative, they are anti-democratic & the only thing capable of beating them is a powerful movement for democratization. Campus workers have been on the front lines of these attacks. Pass Collective Bargaining NOW!

No educator should fear for their safety while teaching. Let alone without healthcare, @harryszabo.bsky.social said it best, no one benefits more from dignified working conditions than our students. It’s long overdue VA pass Collective Bargaining and protect both our educators and their students.

🧬Public research saves lives! Yesterday we joined with workers outside the Senate where VP Cook demanded the Trump Regime #KillTheCuts before they kill us!
April 9, 2025 at 4:53 PM
VP Cook joined with workers and legislators outside the Capitol today to speak in favor of the #PublicServiceFreedomToNegotiate Act. Public servants who clock in everyday to make our communities safe, healthy and vibrant deserve the same basic rights to organize and be part of a #union. #PSFNA

Local 7799 Leader Eyklipse Baca just spoke outside of the Capitol to urge Congress to pass the #PublicServiceFreedomToNegotiate Act, and recognize the public sector’s right to organize ourselves and fight for safe, just, and dignified work. #PSFNA

Today!
April 8, 2025 at 2:06 PM
Trump & unelected extremist billionaire Elon Musk have perpetrated illegal, immoral, attacks on our members, workers across this country, & on millions of people who depend on the services we provide every single day, in every single state, in every single Congressional district in this country.

Today Vice President Cook joined HELU and over 400 workers and activists nationwide to say “HANDS OFF!” Hands off our healthcare! Hands off our research! Hands off our jobs!
February 25, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Join us tomorrow outside HHS to expose the theft of public resources and how unelected oligarchs are decimating our collective wellbeing for their private gain. www.labor4highered.org/feb-25

We joined with hundreds of Federal workers outside the Department of Health and Human Services to stop the ongoing theft that Trump and Musk are carrying out in broad daylight. In the words of NIHFU President Emilya Ventriglia “We are not going anywhere.”
February 21, 2025 at 9:49 PM
📣Join us in solidarity with federal workers tomorrow at noon and show these unelected billionaires that our essential services and research cannot be bought!

BREAKING: A federal judge has issued a restraining order blocking Trump’s “pause” of federal funds! There are still a lot of questions, but this court order clarifies that we will continue to work delivering services to the American people, and STOPS Trump and Musk’s coup seizing the people’s funds.

This MLK day we are reflecting on his commitment to the fight against inequality, racial injustice, and militarism. May we all live up to his memory, and keep his dream alive “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”.
