Kicking off this wild #entsoc25 week strong with our recent work on TRP channel expression patterns in different tissues of fanning #honeybees by my postdoc Megha Majoe. 🥳🐝

The bees that received the 5-day dose of antibiotics were actually moving MORE! However, the bees were having fewer interactions! Justine calculated this as "Interaction Efficiency" - the number of interactions/average group velocity. The 5-day dosed bees had a sig lower interaction efficiency.

So @jlotusnguyen.bsky.social used a program called #ABCTracker (thanks @dantheantman.bsky.social and David Farynyk!) to track how the bees interacted during the assays.

When bees received a 5-day dose of antibiotics, they were significantly less likely to start fanning! So that lead us to ask: What might be the reason? Could the antibiotic make them move less? Are they not able to coordinate?
