I’ve taken our democracy for granted. It’s time to grow up and into what it means to be an AMERICAN.

This is a moral moment in America. Sitting on the Capitol steps with Leader Hakeem Jeffries this morning to discuss what’s at stake with Trump’s budget and affirm the need for collective action to protect Medicaid, food assistance, and other safety net programs. @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social

And while this rings true for me, I must find the balance in showing up AND in caring for myself.
Showing up in community kinda feels like both.

Today’s show was my last at CNN. My closing message: It’s never a good time to bow down to a tyrant… don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to fear. Hold on to the truth… and hope.

Although not necessarily a spring-cleaning kind of day, I have been tidying up inside my home, opening windows, lighting a candle. Hoping to chase away the negative and heavy with a fresh spirit.
Thought it was time to refresh my prayers, too.

They are saying we’ve lost our knowledge of civics. I’ve taken so much for granted all my life. It was so easy to coast in what it means/meant to be an American. Tomorrow I’m going to begin to educate and reeducate myself.

We’re all worked up. Plenty of information that is an absolute nightmarish jawdrop. Not sure what to expect but figure it’ll be bad. My question becomes: what do we DO? We wait for it to affect us personally? See how it goes? What are actions to come for which I can prepare? Forms of resistance?

This a season of strange.
I don’t know what came over me today, but I felt the urge very strongly to put up my tree now. It may mean I simply need some good cheer.Maybe it’s my form of resistance to the crazy that is abounding, my act of anchoring myself in peace, in mystery, in beauty.
