Just completely rebuilt my website and realized I never shared my article about time as a thing in physics. If you've ever found the language around time confusing, here's a little primer (and on a shiny new canvas). haymanphysics.com/blog/2025/ti... 🧪 ⚛️ #scicomm

Just me?

I don't know if this exactly makes sense, but I feel like Tokyo is *casually* beautiful.

Well now #duolingo... whose fault is that?
May 16, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Just *felt* I had to grab one of these :P

Finally made the pilgrimage in the evening.

#gundam is my happy place.

Great talk from Quantum Brilliance. I'll have to look more into them later; looks promising but a little too good to be true (no mention of the downsides, so there must be some big ones).
March 26, 2025 at 1:48 AM
I think this #cisco guy asked an AI to write a talk for him with every cliche and terrible take on quantum computing it could possibly find. Mission accomplished, I guess.

More absolute trash about the "exponential storage" of qubits. Go ahead, store all that data in a quantum state, you'll love losing it all when you read it out.

Day 2 of Quantum Australia Conference 2025, I'll post thoughts here.

So very tired of quantum computing people showing old classical computers to make a point. The first classical computers were big because they *could* be, because big simple things could work as bits. Quantum computers don't have that luxury, qubits *have* to be tiny.

Short version: it's a bubble and they're proud of it.

Long: "end-users" are just investors and governments are the best. Government $$$ leads to private $$$ leads to government "procurement" (aka $$$) leads to more private $$$, etc. all without a real product. What do you think, Bubble or Ponzi?
March 25, 2025 at 4:40 AM
"Global economic frameworks" seems to be *lots* of government funding for "startups" to optimistically do academic work.

Keywords "global" and "nascent" conspicuously replace "clear tangible objectives."

So far, smoke and mirrors.

Nooo, #duolingo, the expression on that tortoise is too good.

I have the strangest relationship with #invincible.

I *love* this show, it's phenomenal. S3 staying strong.

But I completely forget it between seasons. I can't even explain why it's so good, it just... is.

See the middle of this blob of gelatin? It's clearly very stressed, but it's not so clear what that means in terms of simple forces and shapes. If the blob were a quantum thing, we would say it was in an #entangled state. Read more about that here: haymanphysics.com/blog/2025/qm3

Casually reading a book about poetry when a wild #Linux appears. No complaints.

Finally back in the water (after our little oopsie a few months ago :P)

Wet and windy, but a great day out on the water with the classic yacht Ethel (built in 1896).

Almost done my little series on the "why of #quantumcomputing," (haymanphysics.com/blog/categor...) but it's a bit more ambitious than the others so it's taking longer. In the meantime, enjoy this little piece I call "classical #entanglement". 🧪
