Here’s my script for calling elected officials today. Is this right?"(we) are willing & ready to drastically reduce our consumption ” Are others willing? I am, but I feel frustrated—it seems overwhelming, & our culture suggests otherwise. But I think we are willing. Let me know what you think.
I am calling to express my grave concern about the growing impacts of climate change and the constitutional crisis facing our nation. The system of checks and balances upon which the United States was founded must be upheld and restored. Thank you Senator/Congressman. I urge you to strengthen and expand efforts to resist the takeover of our government by oligarchs. Elon Musk must be Elon Musk must be immediately removed from any government influence and perhaps deported. Additionally, DOGE must be prosecuted for illegal breaches of data. If this administration wants to reduce bureaucracy and waste, it must do so legally and not through an undemocratic coup. I am losing hope for I am losing hope for the Environmental Protection Agency under the leadership of Lee Zeldin, Donald Trump, and other corporate interests. Despite ongoing attempts to distract and exhaust the American public with ridiculous and unlawful initiatives, such as acquisition of lands including the Gaza strip, the reality remains that none of this will matter if people do not have clean air to breathe and clean water to drink. We need bold leadership to enact meaningful policies that address the climate crisis head-on. My fellow citizens of the USA and the world and I are willing and ready to drastically reduce our consumption in order to ensure the planet is able to sustain the life of our children and grandchildren. I urge you to take decisive action to combat climate change. Thank you for your time and consideration.
