Very cool, seeing your experimentation makes me want to draw some Pokémon myself.
The styling and shape of the sprites you posted earlier remind me of JGensisKeys' work, but with a cleaner presentation (not that their own rough and active stylization of line isn't charming).

And because I'm not educated in most Asian culture or history, except for Japan, I didn't know that - which is where that disconnect comes from. To me it looked like a complete perspective shift occurring in a way that made ZZZ stop looking like what it was originally aiming for.

Whereas the more recent sets feel just culture OR lack a city feel in a way that begins to feel like Star Rail and Genshin designs in ZZZ's artstyle.

And then even the recent designs that are more urban, like buff shadow the hedgehog, look boring as hell.

Talked about this a few days ago in a server and I needed to preface that the designs being set within culture isn't bad. But ZZZs designs have felt a lot more based in culture rather than, to me, a blend of modern urban flair that includes culture.
