An important disclaimer: I didn't watch Evangelion and at this point I don't think I should.
For some reason it's impossible to google Ideon without getting Eva.

Impactful character's death? Zeta Gundam did it better.
A mech with terrifying yet uncontrollable power? Turn A Gundam did it better.
A mech with a will of its own? Getter Robo Go did it better.

Finished Ideon. It's an anime that hates the viewer. It's 39 episodes of Ideon aimlessly running away while Buff Clan wants to capture it, and they destroy everything on their way.

Ideon is Tomino's rant in an anime form. No structure, one note characters, constant angst and suffering.

Watched Patlabor OVA 1 and 2. What's the point of having "Patlabor" in the title and narrate about "labor crimes" if there's almost no Patlabor nor labor crimes?

It's as if someone wrote a crime drama and then added a mech into it because that's what was hip at the time.

Watching Xabungle. Love Tomino character writing

The original Bright slap scene was brilliant. After hitting Amuro, Bright freezes for a moment as if he is surprised with his own actions. But he can't turn back the time, he doubles down.

The best part: it backfires. Only Fraw's courage puts Amuro back in the cockpit.

Not a fan of blue eyed Amuro too. It makes him look special and loses that "everyman" quality he had
December 20, 2024 at 7:12 PM
Why the hell is he remembering this? The point of that scene was Bright trying to make Amuro to pilot the Gundam because it was literally life or death.

After killing his father, Guel loses his will to live. Leaning that Lauda needs help makes him realize that there are people that need him. Even if he fails to save the child he still tries to do what he can.

He is also a father's boy. I'm sure it's a Tempest thing because a lot of WfM revolves "you are not your parents".
Anyway, Guel adopts the name of Chibodee Crocket and goes to work a blue collar job to avoid bringing more shame to his father.
December 16, 2024 at 1:23 PM
Some call him an entitled brat, but an entitled brat would try to run away from his responsibility. Guel did not. He still huffs massive amount of copium because his arc is only starting.

She sees his inner strength even when he lost.
December 16, 2024 at 12:55 PM
Despite being humiliated by Suletta, she is the one to notice his positive qualities. That's what makes Guel slowly recognize and admire.
December 16, 2024 at 12:49 PM
This brings me back to Guel. He starts as an asshole that only respects strength. His arc starts when Suletta slaps his ass and challenges him for a gundam fight. He, quite literally, gets humbled.
December 16, 2024 at 12:41 PM
I sympathize with Guel and El4n shippers because in the actual show they seem to have more romantic tension with Suletta than MioMio.
December 16, 2024 at 12:19 PM
To cap it off, for Gundam there's not enough war and sacrifice, for a yuri show it lacks Mio and Suletta doing anything romantic. Openings and Endings do all the heavy lifting.
December 16, 2024 at 12:12 PM
Real kick in the dick: not only Suletta survives relatively unscathed, Eri is saved too. And people responsible for both Quiet Zero and Vanadis Incident go unpunished. Hundreds of people died because of them, I'm not sure what the writers are trying to say. Forgiveness is cool?
December 16, 2024 at 12:07 PM
This is what I call "CCA brainrot". Amuro pushed Axis away from Earth in almost magical way and writers feel the need to reenact it without rhyme or reason.
December 16, 2024 at 11:59 AM
Watching Ep 24 for the first time, I was confused the entire time. One year later I'm angry because it's just a reference to newtype ghosts. Why waste explaining what the fuck is Permet and how is any of this possible when you can just shrug and say "It's Gundam"
December 16, 2024 at 11:49 AM
Think about it: what is happiness to Eri? What are her hopes and dreams? What would she do after data storm enveloping the Earth sphere? She is supposed to be 25 years old. Einora wants happiness for Eri, but Eri only cares about her mother's happiness. It's some kind of uroboros.
December 16, 2024 at 11:37 AM
And the climax is just Suletta butting heads with Eri while Miorine is actually doing protagonist work. And I'm saying "butting heads" because Eri doesn't care about what Suletta has to say. The truth is that Eri is even more of a tool than Suletta was.
