Newcastle are the only club to have gone a whole season without an overturn against them (2019-20) and to have gained the most points in a single season from VAR overturns (9, 2024/25).

City won the title in 2022-23 having had the highest number of decisions against.

More data will follow

As I mentioned earlier, I would sound Arsenal-biased if I had to analyse every incident, as very little went the other way.
Taylor was simply horrendous (and Brooks only intervened when it was 'safe' to do so).
Though, to be fair, I can't imagine any of the current refs doing better in such a game

[3/3] As Garragher said on his match review, VAR protocol prevents the officials from intervening on restarts, such as a corner.
But VAR is entitled to check the APP (attacking possession phase), and that should include Foden's position when he shot.

The way the rule is written is unhelpful tho
December 1, 2025 at 1:15 PM
[2/3] Not only that: that corner should not have been awarded in the first place, because Foden came from an offside position to shoot the ball that was then touched by the GK.
It should have been a free kick for Leeds.

Now, VAR... ?

I mentioned betting as a possible reason for Coote's downfall as well, potentially even leading to blackmail: bsky.app/profile/pgmo...

But I guess we will never know
[Conspiracy] Hear me out on this one...
Fans often talk about corruption among referees and PGMOL when things don't go their way, suggesting that money or gifts are taken from various sources.

But what if there is a component of blackmail?

[4/4] Now I can see patterns again here, but I don't want to point the finger at him as a villain... I just wish him to find proper help, possibly from a professional outside of West Ham or the football world.

Betting is so big in the UK, and I'm sorry to say it's not here to do you any good

[3/4] 253 bets yielding £167,000 in profits, with 27 of the 253 bettors linked to the player... That was the core of the investigation.
However, the commission's report published 2 months ago criticised the FA’s internal investigation, its failure to use independent experts and the lack of consensus

[2/4] I feel really sorry for Paquetà, and I don't know what's behind (addiction, or he owes money, thinks he's "helping" friends in Brazil, or else), but the pattern is just too evident now to negate.
He was exonerated in July, with his betting patterns explained as casual “hot tips”

By the way, if you'd like to counter that Taylor did well because it was too early to give a booking so early in such game,
a) rules apply to all 90', but also
b) 3 seconds after that free kick was taken, he booked Zubimendi

There and then, he had lost any control of the game.

I believe this season, more than any previous one, calls for reform and the introduction of "effective time", with the clock stopping when the ball is not in play.
Examples like this game are just too many, and no Premier League game reaches 60' of play time: theanalyst.com/articles/pre...

4' in the second half...

- Gyökeres on Sanchez, 2'
- 2 goals, 1'
- VAR check on goal, 1'
- 2 subs, 1'
- 2 cards, 1'
- injury breaks, 4'

6 corners and 26 fouls... I wish I had the ball in play stat at hand, but even then the above incidents amount to 10'

22' "by the book", yet he gave 9'

5' in the first half...

- The red card incident alone took 6' (can find the times in the BBC text report)
- 4' for the Hincapie/Chalobah incident
- 5 yellow cards, 2'30"

Those alone should have made for 12 minutes.
