Nothing close to NYC in my town, but I do recall a few similar in San Francisco, back in the day. They have largely disappeared as the formally ethnic parts of the city have gentrified.
You might get some great travel experiences from this challenge, but not likely to find many NYC style places.

AP, like all legacy journalism, needs to shift the style guides and start using all the words in the dictionary, rather than passive words, phrasing their stenographer expertise. Change the word “citing” to “claiming” and you would see the professional skepticism required by their trade.
