"We need more housing that's affordable but I don't want it near me so I'd rather keep it as a failed hotel"

Yeah, building new housing does nothing to help the most vulnerable.

90 feet tall is not egregiously tall next to a rapid bus line. I could not disagree with the commissioner more.

Grateful that Sam DeMarco agrees with @bethanyhallam.bsky.social that Allegheny County needs to do a reassessment. We should make sure reassessments are regular and fair.

Mt. Oliver business district. Walkable from nearby houses.

Mt. Oliver is the 10th densest town in PA at 10,013.8/sq mi. Good urbanism is not just for big cities, but also small towns.

Banning traffic on Market Square except in front of the Oyster House, then claiming "This hopefully kind of pushes forward that pedestrian first environment while also ensuring that these restaurants and retailers can succeed and meet their daily business operation goals" is weak

Nice urban residential street in Dormont.

Alabama Ave has narrow streets, trees, sidewalks, and homes with minimum front setbacks.

At 11,264.7/sq mi, Dormont is the 4th densest town in PA! You do not need a large apartment building to have a nice walkable, urban community.

Corner of Maryland Ave & Howe St.

Small streets with sidewalks. Zoning would prevent these apartment buildings from being built today

This article talks a lot about safety. But the safety of those currently housed in the facility is never discussed.

We can talk about neighbors blocking housing for those most in need of it too. Can't complain about people living on the streets and block shelters.
