Now that I’m out of uniform, I’m grateful for the right to join my 81-year old mother at the first protest for either of us- especially on this day when political violence has shifted control of Minnesota’s House of Representatives to a party seemingly bent on tyranny.

Part of ruling a free people is keeping the Army out of politics, even when civil authorities compel the Army to stupidity, whether that’s invading Iraq to today’s boorish birthday parade.
