New research shows 61% of police officers work through breaks & many have no proper place to rest or talk after traumatic incidents.
Station closures and poor facilities are leaving officers isolated, fatigued and burnt out.

The second most worn item in policing is General-Purpose Body Armour (GPBA), worn by 66% of respondents to the National Uniform & Equipment Survey.

For 61% this item is considered problematic.

The weight and fit of GPBA were the key issues highlighted by wearers.

More than two thirds of police officers and staff reported dress shirts are poor quality and uncomfortable.

Some also commented the dress shirt is ill-suited to the specific demands of their duties within the force.

❌ Uniform complaints are not dealt with consistently, with some forces rarely making necessary adjustments to uniform, often at the cost of wellbeing.

The custodian helmet was one of the most negatively rated items. Worn by 29% of respondents, over half said it harmed their experience.

Respondents stressed functionality, choice, and inclusivity, calling for modern, flexible options that support rather than hinder.
