More generally, underlying baseline risk matters for magnitudes. We find that temporal variation in conceptions explains around 8% of preterm birth fluctuations for White mothers, and 12-15% for Black mothers. 3/4

Using US birth data (2010-2019), we show that a conception "shock" creates a wave pattern: fewer conceptions → fewer preterm births beginning from 5 months later → but more from 9 months before rates normalize. 2/4

We found that early-stage contact (investigation) is increasing while late-stage contact (out-of-home-placements) remains stable or decreases, with cross-national variations in foster care rates reflecting regional and sociocultural differences rather than universal factors.

In the first, we show that a 2002 Danish reform that restricted marriage opportunities for citizens under 24 wanting to marry non-EU spouses led to delayed marriages, increased cohabitation, changes in spouse selection, delayed fertility, and increased educational attainment among immigrants. (2/n)

No evidence on substantial differences in wellbeing across post-dissolution living arrangement, although in the uncontrolled data, children in joint living arrangement have lower (i.e., better) SDQ scores. Key take-away: Children in joint living are positively selected prior to dissolution.

Children who have experienced union dissolution have 0.23 SD higher SDQ scores after standard controls in pooled OLS. Taking fixed effects and using stacked DID regression with clean (future treated) controls lower this to around 0.10 SD higher SDQ score.

Parental union dissolution substantively and persistently lowers children's wellbeing.
