Cisco actually bought it from Sourcefire back in the day which is why the Cisco ASA's had that name. Not it's firepower. They had freely available intelligence feeds back in the day. Still love the pig logo.

In our org, using it as part of conditional access filters out a metric ton of bad login attempts and password sprays, and we also do it incoming at the edge for connection attempts, based on working with Department of Homeland Security. We are obligated to follow NIST standards.
