My understanding is that in the riverside case, they caught him while “off duty”. If he had been on duty, then the sheriffs could have been criminally charged for interference

I live near this incident. It makes sense to me. logistically excellent location not far from Portland, with airport, and already federal land for hosting a coast guard helicopter.
Where they F’d up is they moved the life saving helicopter 90 miles south and thought no one would notice.

My guess is that they have so thoroughly pissed off the farming community, that there would be no point to redrawing their maps.
