Hater of hypocrisy, lover of beer. In that order. (Also: pizza snob.) Warning: ENTP, so proceed with caution. Definitely NOT too old for this shit.
The problem is, of course, that FIFA--soccer's governing body--continues to be one of the most corrupt such organizations in the world. Money and power are their driving motivation. Tens of millions of dollars are on the line, so I can't imagine them doing the right thing now...

This isn't an airport; there's no need to announce your departure.

Trump's job:

Sit at a desk in an office that doesn't belong to him.

Appear on TV as frequently as possible.

Entertain an endless line of sycophants trying to win his favor.

Fire people on a whim.

Kinda seems less like an actual presidency, and more like another season of 'The Apprentice: '

"Full and comprehensive"? As others have noted:

1) It's a framework, not an agreement.

2) The UK is our 11th largest trading partner, making up just 3% of US trade. A lot, to be sure, but not substantial in the long run

3) The UK already levies tariffs of about one percent.

Yes, it does.

Screw Greenblatt. Yes, the ADL walked it back, but they did initially say they "appreciate" Trump's "broad, bold set of efforts to counter campus antisemitism" by taking Columbia University activist Mahmoud Khalil into custody Stasi-style.

I've given money to the ADL. But I'm now through with them.

Musk could have spent less money than he has already lost and sent everyone to college or ended homelessness. Tesla could still be earning him billions. He could be adored worldwide. But, no; he went all in on Trump, and is now on his way to losing everything.

He's not worthy of sympathy.

Hmmm. It's my experience--and probably yours as well--that while the blue checkmarks at the other place originally had utility as a way to be certain a brand was who they said they were, they soon became a rope line separating the well-followed celebrities from the destined-for-obscurity masses.

Sure. Just do something Bluesky deems "notable". Can't do that? Enjoy your obscurity, Mr. Irrelevant.

The delayed drop in extent looks a lot like 2012's, where late spreading presaged June's steep cliff.

...And every one of the 75 leaders was a big, muscular man who broke down in tears when talking with Trump and said, "Sir, you are the greatest president we've ever seen!"
April 10, 2025 at 10:14 AM
My sincere hope is that every weak and cowardly business that eagerly rolls over for Trump and exposes its soft white underbelly without so much as an iota of pushback is forced into bankruptcy. They all have "reasons" for capitulating, but it comes down to valuing profit over people.

Fuck 'em all.

I don't have a problem with politicians changing their positions on a particular policy if that change is well thought out and supported by new information. But I DO have a problem with craven & opportunistic pols lying about past positions, & betraying their oft-stated principles for political gain

-"Well, I'm... the federal law"

-"Very well"? Harris beat Trump by 6.9%

-Maine has ~175,000 HS students

-About 1.6% of those, or ~2,800, identify as transgender

-About 150 of those participate in sports, an average of ~1.2 students per HS

Because for every person who says, "I'd use a time machine to go back to 1890 and kill Hitler in the crib," a modern-day Democratic politician whines that "We must win with votes, not violence" and "We must never stoop to their level" and "When they go low, we go high".
February 19, 2025 at 12:21 PM
Warner's long been one of the weakest career democrats who is far more interested in maintaining his own power and prestige than in doing his job. He doesn't measure success in how much he's helped his constituents; he measures it by how many committees he chairs and what DC parties he's invited to.

Hakeem Jeffries is absolutely not up to the job that stands before him. We don't need him to repost cutesy memes. We in the proletariat do that because we have no power; Jeffries, OTOH, has power, and needs to either use it or step aside for someone who will.

Oooh! A whistleblower complaint portal? Why, that'll show Trump, Musk, and other Republican that We Democrats Mean Business! Just hearing that we're starting a whistleblower complaint portal is bound to drive icy stakes straight into their hearts and make them reconsider what they're doing!

Emanuel has always been a craven opportunist, so his reaction is no surprise. Axelrod's devolution is more recent, I think, though he's always been a "The Republicans Are Our Bestest Buddies Ever!" kind of Democrat.

A pox on both their houses...
