New study of our lab in collaboration with @chmi-cz.bsky.social identified 10 sources of air pollution in the Czech lignite basin area. Almost one-third of PM10 was attributed to coal mining activities but power plants itself had minimal local impact. More at doi.org/10.1016/j.en...

Our new research. Carbonate carbon (CC) is not negligible in Arctic total suspended particles. If not considered, CC biases the contribution of elemental and organic carbon. Two hypothetical CC sources were identified: dust resuspension and marine microorganisms. More at: doi.org/10.5194/acp-...

Canadian #wildfires were also detected in Central Europe this week. Mostly as fine organic aerosols and soot. In line with observations from #CopernicusAtmosphere AOD (atmosphere.copernicus.eu/charts/packa...).

During this week, Tropos (@tropos-de.bsky.social) organized a nice #OGTAC-CC training course on the analyses of trace organic compounds in aerosols. I can just recommend for next participants.

New study on the organic aerosol source apportionment at the rural background site Košetice by R. Lhotka from our lab. It shows that determining OA sources is still a challenge as the results show a rather oxidative state of aerosols.
