there’s always a little too much chatter about what the Court will or won’t do. to someone who says they won’t overturn obergefell, i ask only this: what do you think the odds are, and how much are you willing to bet?
I urge everyone who is understandably disturbed by the petition news to consider how very unlikely it is for the Court to even take this up, much less reverse Obergefell. Unlike abortion, marriage opponents don’t have the same social movement that anti-abortion forces did, which was core to the GOP.
Obergefell v. Hodges made me believe in the whole "arc of history bends towards justice." In the 90s, I didn't think gay marriage would be legalized in my lifetime because homophobia was so deeply ingrained. We would have never gotten here without the decision and now it may be overturned.

We stopped expanding the House in the 1920s, decided the Supreme Court should freeze in the 1930s, added the last states in the 1950s, amended the Constitution only once in the last fifty years.

The USA and its government continued to grow, but almost all that growth came in the executive branch.
i really think the only reason we haven't created new states — which was a common political tactic in the 19th century, see nevada and the dakotas — is that 50 is a round number

Weapons is required watching if you’re a horror fan. It’s up there with the likes of Hereditary, Get Out, and Barbarian in terms of quality. Excellent movie.

First, the troops came to LA to attack and disappear the peaceful protesters.

Then, the troops came to DC to attack and disappear the peaceful homeless.

If America falls, it will be because of the people who weren’t paying attention — and didn’t take that damn poem seriously.
