Not exactly, the algae is often red or orange, and the shrimp or crustaceans can be reddish, but the key is that they’re rich in carotenoid pigments, which the flamingo’s body processes into the pink you see.

Flamingos aren’t born pink, they start grayish-white. Their color comes from carotenoid pigments in algae, brine shrimp, and crustaceans they eat. These pigments break down and are deposited in feathers, skin, and beak. Without that diet, they’d stay pale or white.
