It makes me wonder about all the images out there waiting to be found. Who created them, and who do they belong to? I don’t know what the answer is, but I suspect it’s an uncomfortable one. Perhaps the hint of a signature in this image best conveys that sentiment. 3/4

Went for my next check to discover some local legend has found a way to secure the nest in the tree, safely up off the ground. Very grateful as it was starting to get a bit blowy!

Despite the ingeniousness of my bag handle design, it’s too windy to safely hang in the tree, so it’s on the ground in the shade for now, nearby the original tree so that mother can still fulfill all feeding and disciplinary obligations. #parentingisforlife

A few tense minutes later and I have successfully transplanted the bird into the box, sans ants, and moved it into the shade. The mother bird, in what I assume to be an expression of appreciation, stops dive-bombing my head for a minute. #likeaboughtone

Run home to search the house for nesting material. Blessed wife has just done a bunch of hedge trimming - perfect twigs abound! A modified paper bag provides a base with hanging mechanism, and some tissues are thrown in to give it that boudior feel. #diy #homerenovation

An hour later and the sun is burning down on it and the ants have found it 🙇♂️. I talk to the local vet who gives the OK to re-nest it (plan A) or create a makeshift nest nearby, within range of its parents, if necessary (plan B). Plan A soon hits a roadblock:

Found this little chic while walking the dogs, obviously fallen from a nest. Parents were nearby and very “swoopy” - a good sign that intervention might not be necessary. It is quite young though, more nestling than fledgling, so I check back on it in an hour. #homeless #chic
