My friend Oren Perez, formerly the law dean at Bar-Ilan University, shared with me a statement on the situation in Israel that was signed by 200 faculty at BIU and over 50 scholars at other Israeli universities. It no doubt speaks for many others beyond the academy and beyond Israel's borders.

Just a reminder of what France arranged to commemorate the hundredth anniversary of U.S. independence. For the 250th, we’ll be lucky to get a card.

Below is an email excerpt from Brad Bondi, brother of the AG, running for D.C. Bar pres. He highlights his creation of a scholarship for students "entering UF Law who demonstrate a commitment to advancing the causes of equality, diversity, unity, and inclusion." I guess a funding cutoff is imminent.

It's not every day you see a blatant violation of the First Amendment packaged so handily by a government official for litigation purposes. In terms of proposed response, I am reminded of what a friend told me his partner had sent an opponent via telegram: "F*ck you. Nasty letter to follow."

Although Bluesky is now my communications base, I kept the X account to avoid any hostile takeover. Sometimes, unexpected good stuff appears. For example, when Tina Turner died in 5/23, John Fogerty posted a comment about how much he loved her version of Proud Mary. I responded. Today, I got this.

4/4 Our most recent season focused on Project 2025. Sadly, it's not just history now. All cover important territory, e.g., immigration, reproductive rights, environmental policy, and more. The fan favorite so far is a great discussion on what DEI is really about with Mitchell Karp and Angela Vallot.
