Some aspects of books are exempt from Trump's new tariffs. And of course with fewer disposable dollars, consumers are likely to buy fewer books, although it seems to me that books are usually a refuge in hard times. Maybe fewer Starbucks and more Murakami?

I'm watching a super cheazy thriller. Naive, angry voters have elected a president who is in fact a Russian asset. Selecting soft-minded, cowardly aides, he bullies the government and economy into self-destruction, at the same time undermining foreign alliances. Can our hero stop him in time?

Having trouble thinking straight today. Doge fires the weather forecasters and 'intemperate' Trump has epic meltdown at the WH, casting further doubt on the planet's ability to survive itself. We will either roast humanity into oblivion or let pettiness and ignorance destroy our civilization.

The United States Military Academy has just eliminated all Cadet clubs and activities for POC. Most of these have existed for decades like the Society of Black Engineers. They were there when I was a Cadet in 1987. All of the religious ones remain. This isn’t DEI. It’s white Christian Nationalism.

Do annoyances find me or do I look for them? Today: (1) USPS mailboxes in my neighborhood are now fully converted to accept nothing wider than 1/2". Had to go to PO. (2) Local deli imposed a 3.5% surcharge because I paid by credit card. Isn't that forbidden by their card issuer? Truckin' Fump!
