Interested in painting, philosophy, consciousness and the natural world.
It makes me queasy when those from an immigrant family background, like the Home Secretary, slam the door on others. That said, I do think we need a firm grip on immigration as the numbers will yet increase massively when climate change leads to global instability.

From family experience I would guess that autism and digestive difficulties are caused mainly by genetic variations that commonly occur together.

What you are aware of is triplets of sense, feel and do. Together these amount to control...and consciousness is control of control.

Wasn't there a press article not long ago that reported that analysis shows that the mix of people shown in adverts is indeed different from the mix in the general population?

Oh, the grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men;
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And he marched them down again.

When they were up, they were up,
And when they were down, they were down,
And when they were only halfway up,
They were neither up nor down.

Subconscious: out=f(in). Conscious: out=f(in,f()).

True, but just like us needing to buy a house with a mortgage, the up front money was not available in the capital budget so companies helped them turn it into continuing revenue spend.

Emergence enables a high level description and timely predictions of outcomes. The lower level physics may be valid, but of little practical use if you don't know the material properties and initial configuration of everything to full precision, which you never do.

... like all the great things I could have bought if I wasn't paying ny mortgage?

That's a silly argument. The NHS has buildings it chose to pay for as it goes along instead of up front. Nothing to do with paying salaries of medical staff.

But it also communicates that just knowing someone is autistic only gives you a limited handle on what strengths, weaknesses and blindspots they might have, because the spectrum is so wide.

I checked and it is actually LibreOffice that I use, I misremenbered. A little bit of a learning curve if you are used to MS Office, but close enough to figure it out. I use its equivalents of Word, Powerpoint and Excel.

Global politics right now is like watching a naff superhero movie, without a superhero to lead us out of the mess.

I think with enough self awareness it is sometimes possible to notice that moment of subconscious commitment to act.

I would not have picked up my type 2 diabetes without a routine health check funded by my employer at the time. Nothing my GP surgery does routinely would have picked it up.
