You could certainly make that argument, but Trump is very sensitive to the retail price of gas, and that price is driven by the world price of crude.
In addition a higher crude price is obviously good for oil producers, but it is bad for affordability and the rest of the economy both Trump problems

The tankers would be easy targets. The fact that Ukraine has now chosen to target them is interesting to say the least. Ukraine will get blamed for the environmental consequences. This may greatly complicate Russian oil exports as the owners of the tankers may be less willing to put them at risk.
