I might suggest that it is insufficient to want a republican form of government, as that simply means not a monarchy. A dictatorship is republican. We need a democratic form of government, which means a republic with fair elections.

I can’t stand Doug Ford. This could be dangerous as Trump is a bully and will respond in kind some way. Ontario and Quebec both sell electricity to northern US states. We need that revenue. Ford is putting on a show for his election next year. This could end with Trump retaliating, Ford re-elected.
