Oh, but you might want a magnifier with a light as well, that’s also really helpful. Here is a board I assembled recently using the above.

In the late 1970s I worked in a computer shop where we sold 4kb memory cards for £100 (£550 in today’s money). So… if those prices had held, the 24gb of main memory in the computer I bought today would have set me back £3,300,000,000! Exponentials are wild.

Now that’s what I call a red heat pump! I love it when our customers ask us to really stretch the boundaries of what is possible. I think we are going to see a lot more wrapped heat pumps in future!

First full day of operating of my upgraded pv system. 28 off 515W panels split equally between the east and west roofs. 62kWh of electricity generated so far and it’s hanging in there generating over 850W at 19:30. Amazing.

Many thanks. I’ve got a 2019 MacBook with 2 usb c ports. I’ve then got an anker 547 usb hub plugged into one of them. And then a usb2 to micro USB cable plugged into an esp 32 dev board. It was all work well for over a year and I now can’t connect at all. Here’s the usb report.

Climbing a ladder with a 2 by 1.1m 26kg 510W pv panel on your shoulder. Rob makes it look easy. Only specialist gear is a padded cap! share.

Oh, and now it tells me this. Not sure what I am meant to do about it though.

I am so disappointed by the zappie charger. Right now it is blasting out 7.3kW whilst simultaneously telling me no charging will take place until I select a charging mode. There may be some nerdy explanation but it needs to be get simpler than this.

I can see that the cylinder wasn’t stone cold at the start of each session and estimate actual usage at no more than 800L. There is also 80L of water in the twin 40m 28mm pipe runs to the heat pumps which needs to be heated by that isn’t enough to change anything.

As far as locals are concerned construction has already started with all the ‘enabling works’. Here’s Google’s aerial view of the site showing massive earthworks.

Don’t panic, more inertia is on the way, this huge load trundling through Ipswich sometime ago is a synchronous condenser and will soon be connected to the grid to keep it happy! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synchro...

My, aren’t Vaillant doing well. A new housing development in Ipswich.

Also spotted in Paris (ok, so this was during one of their car free weekends)

Trade price for pv panels in UK is now <10p per Watt! And 25% cheaper than a year ago when I last looked.

In mild weather (9°C average?) I can move 80% of the load to cheapest cosy 8 hours with balance easily handled by battery with plenty left over. In cold weather the load shifting is less and the battery just runs out just before next cheap period. Charts show state of charge on cold and mild days.

And 3 of them have just shown up on my notifications tab, even though I never look at his tweets.

If you have a cylinder already and it works well for you then you almost never need to replace it. Here’s a recent install where we retained an original 25 yo vented cylinder. Payback time for replacement high gain cylinder would have been >40 years!

And one from last November with microbore throughout which is working beautifully. We’ve done 3 microbore systems in last three months and all are working fine.

And here’s one we completed last week of jan with 25L volumiser in series because we also replaced 11 rads in the house with fan convectors (to provide cooling in summer) which greatly reduced the system volume

Relaxing after a week during which we did two mcs heat pump installs from scratch and completed another. Three houses now being heated by heat pumps that weren’t a week ago! Here are the guts of one of the retrofit systems being prepared offsite and us piping up another.
