I think this is why Labour are so determined about their 'fiscal rules'.
My guess is the EU has said "if you want to ask to rejoin, the UK needs to stop borrowing and being such a financial black hole basket case"

Last time I looked at a map, neither of those countries were the UK, or even in Europe .. which is pretty much the definition of foreign countries and far away.

Russia recently destabilised the US .. purely using hybrid warfare, propaganda and 'useful idiots' .. much as he successfully wrecked the UK a few years earlier by Brexiting us .. I really doubt Putin thinks he's losing.

Legal changes aside .. and the fact that was an attack on US military assets, not UK military assets .. the main difference is that close on 25 years have passed the world has changed and we now have a resurgent Russia (allied with Iran, N Korea, China) openly trying to destabilise Europe.

Read the legal definition of terrorism.
As for the planes .. they are leased by the RAF, flown by RAF crews, used by operationally by the RAF and were stationed on an RAF base. So the 'but not RAF' is a feeble excuse.

It may have been subsequently proven to be 'just paint' and the aircraft may have been repaired .. but that is not the point .. neither is whatever cover story the saboteurs gave the media to justify the attack
