Immediate examples at Metro-North that come to mind include LaserTrain, Virtual Reality (VR) Training (special recognition at today’s UITP Awards 2025), UAS/Drones and recent APTA Gold Awards.

The not invented here syndrome fails to note process changes & integration of new technologies & new work equipment + better utilization of data & analytics to make informed decisions.

The not invented here syndrome fails to note process changes & integration of new technologies & new work equipment + better utilization of data & analytics to make informed decisions.
We have integrated several best practices from study reports and information sharing with domestic and international public transportation operators. Where travel is constrained, we utilize virtual meetings to obtain best practices and for information exchanges.

The MTA family of operating agencies have long-standing memberships & committee representation {ISBeRG, CoMET, UITP, AAR / Transportation Technology Center (TTC), AREMA, Commuter Rail Coalition, and FRA-run events} and regular participation with in-person agency hosted meetings.
