I don't live in what I'd call a big city, but I know how to survive in one. I don't know how to hunt, or find safe plants to eat, or build a shelter, but give me a subway system in any language and I'll figure it out.

What modern skill do you have?

It would be even funnier if I came up with this joke while I was asleep! But I didn't.

Have you had any funny thoughts lately?

Mel and I watch TV very differently. I like to find a movie or a show and get lost in it. Mel likes to have the TV show in the room, but likes to be doing something else, too. Both approaches work, but sometimes the difference is funny.

What are you watching these days?

It's not really like a panic. It's more an apprehension that I'll be misunderstood. It happens more often than I'd like.

Does this resonate with you?

I really wanted to order something. But I didn't want to be the only one ever. Very strange!

What is your mystery of the day today?

We had an adequate stay and ate what was technically pizza. It was glorious enough!

What are you somewhat satisfied with?

It's obvious we need to connect more with the people we love. Everyone knows it. Why is it so easy not to?

Who should you reach out to?

The woods were cool and moist. The road by the shore was cold and windy—until I stopped, when it suddenly became hot, dry, and endless.

What's your emotional weather?

Like all comics, this story is completely true.

What light shines bright in your life?

Everything about this car, this speaker, the music... it's all ridiculous. And fun.

What ridiculous thing have you embraced? And don't say your significant other...

This is a story about being a divorced dad, being pulled in every direction at once, and being swallowed by the tech industry.

I'm looking for a few more subscribers!

This story gets quietly weird, and isn't for everyone. But if you're here already, it might be for you.

Mel wants me to make it clear she doesn't think there's anything funny about solar panel salespeople. She just thinks there's something funny about me.

How do you look today?
October 27, 2025 at 3:04 PM
You might wonder why I don't tackle the issues of the day head on. Well, don't we all need a break?

Don't we?

I tie my shoes when I wear 'em. Then I just push them off from the heel. The knots stay until I have to wear the shoes again. And these shoes, I don't wear that often.

What knots have you left tied?

I'm trying to replace scrolling with drawing. But drawing takes so much! I feel like this is where I should plug my Patreon and point out that if I had enough Patrons I could spend more time drawing and still get to spend quality time with my phone.

So I will.

Won't you take a look?

Hi, I'm Peter! I'm currently in the middle of my graphic novel HACK, which I'm posting at tapas.io/series/7x/info . It's about being a divorced dad, working in tech, and getting out of sync to the point of irrelevance. Please subscribe! Thank you @fonscordi.bsky.social

I like my job. One of the things I like is that I'm pretty sure no one other than me could do it like I do it. And that takes effort.

What are you working on?

I've been on a journey to the mountaintop! What did I find there? Comics! I'm glad to be back where I belong.

What journey have you been on?

The lucky thing is while you're waiting for the heat death of the universe, you can snack on some fruits and veggies.

What are you trying to open these days?

I don't know what this would look like to someone outside our house. Most of the time, the sneeze doesn't come.

What's your weird household spectacle?

This was a local runoff election between two very similar candidates who were almost tied. Perhaps the least consequential election possible. And you know what? We voted. You vote too!

There's something about that way of talking that protects us, or makes us feel comfortable, or signals in-group membership, or something. I feel like I should know. But, yeah, I'm your "circle back" guy at work, just like everyone else.

What are you pivoting to?
