Posting about semiconductors and wireless technology (5G), London pubs and anything that I find interesting. CEO of RANsemi, but views expressed are my own.
I love London (taken yesterday evening on Frith Street, Soho).

I knew that Von der Leyen's plane had had its GPS jammed, so as an engineer I read this article with interest, as it would be a lot more difficult to jam radar. It turns out that the first part of the article is wrong. The quotes make it clear that GPS was jammed, @rentouljohn.bsky.social

Without wanting to detract from the major fall in stock prices yesterday, those if us who may be retiring in the next few years can take comfort that they've still more than doubled over the last 5 years.

I eventually got curious as to why GMail thought I wanted my email translated into Polish and clicked on it. It turns out that it's asking if you want to polish your email, as in what you do to make your shoes shine. It slightly rephrased my email to make it seem like someone else had written it.

Here's a photo of Battersea Power Station I took in November 2021 from more or less the same angle, but lower. There are now buildings in the way.

I did most of my Christmas shopping in book shops and a record shop, @roughtraderecords.bsky.social. Funny how I looked online for ages and didn't find anything inspiring, but walked into Rough Trade and I instantly found the perfect gift, which was a record I didn't know existed.

And, a few miles upstream: Battersea Power Station.

China has a huge density of coffee shops. They all have espresso machines, but no one understands what an espresso is. "It's the coffee that comes out of the machine before you mix it with other things". This Costa at Beijing South station had an English menu. No espresso.

A nice surprise from my electricity supplier, @goodenergyuk.bsky.social. Good Energy's customer service has gone from "not much better than the rest" to really good over the last couple of years.

In the toilet of a Heathrow Express train. You can't get water until you've pressed the soap button. In my experience, after you've got soap on your hands twice and found there is no water, you don't do it again. This means that the first squirt of soap is wasted.

From the @the-independent.com. I don't think "as" is appropriate in this context. @rentouljohn.bsky.social?
